As a cross pair, the EUR/AUD represents the Euro against the Aussie dollar. It was hard hit by the European debt crises, but has shown recent recovery. Although both of these currencies themselves are major currencies, this particular cross is still considered a minor one, even though it’s also on the top 6 list of frequently traded crosses. Although the Euro is used across the spectrum, the Aussie dollar is widely considered a "commodity" currency, linked to the country’s heavy gold exports.
