Fred Razak, senior trading strategist at CMTrading, shares his thoughts on AI and trading:
Q: What does the future of trading with AI look like?
“As far as I’m concerned at this stage, I’m not saying that in the future is not going to change, but at this stage, I see ChatGPT just being a glorified search engine that can process a little bit more information as opposed to just getting.
“I was having a conversation with an expert, discussing whether or not ChatGPT will be able to replace the human factor. I wanted to argue that it will because to a certain degree, you know, we are programmed just like our parents program us. As in we find somebody very similar to their parents, right? Not just eye color but other human traits inherited from my parents, right? And genes are carried to the next generation. We get better and better over time. It’s something important to understand, but ChatGPT still has a way to go to add the human factor.”
“AI still is missing the human factor. I’m not saying that one day they’re not gonna get it, but for right now it’s missing the human factor.
Q: Will it replace traders?
“I don’t think it will replace traders. It will allow traders to trade maybe a little bit more efficiently. I don’t think it’s going to replace traders. It’ll be traders trading against other traders using AI. Those training the AI are humans, so ultimately, you know there’s a human element to it. Depending on what the market is doing. In the crystal ball that I look at what is the future of trading look like? It’s a good question. I think there’s going to be a lot more integration. I mean the trading systems are already there.
“All this technology is where the money is, and you know trading the financial markets is very lucrative. So there have been robots in the past that have made money, but not always consistently, and this is the issue. Even AI doesn’t necessarily imply that it will make money consistently over a given period.
Q: Can they short the market or work to pump-and-dump stocks?
“It sounds like a malicious thing for anybody to pump-and-dump stocks and sometimes it’s done naturally by the organic fashion of the markets. I mean, look at what happened to GameStop and all those, you know, those are natural progressions of the market that will happen. True traders don’t trade that type of stuff, by the way.
“They trade things that they can on a certain level anticipate. Some sort of definable outcome, meaning that they can set a system that will duplicate success. Some of these pump-and-dumps are not where traders are. You know, spending their time with.
AI plugins have transformed stock analysis, enabling traders to gain valuable insights, make informed decisions, and enhance their trading strategies. By utilizing these ten amazing ways to leverage AI plugins, traders can stay ahead of the curve in the ever-evolving stock market.
Overall, the popularity of AI in trading continues to grow as financial institutions and individual traders recognize the potential benefits it offers in terms of speed, accuracy, efficiency, and risk management.
